Bobbi Cerin
BMT, MTA
Alberta born and raised, music has always been an integral part of Bobbi's life. She studied classical violin and old-time fiddle throughout her childhood before studying jazz and contemporary music for a year at MacEwan University in Edmonton. When Bobbi learned about music therapy, she moved to Vancouver to pursue her goal of becoming a Certified Music Therapist. She completed her internship with Soul Sounds Music Therapy in Kelowna and received her Bachelor of Music Therapy from Capilano University.
Bobbi strives to use a holistic, anti-oppressive, evidence-based approach in her practice which is heavily influenced by community-based practices. She prioritizes creating a space that encourages openness, collaboration, and community. Some of Bobbi's values include accountability, inclusivity, accessibility, and highlighting the individual or community's autonomy. She has experience working with long-term care residents, hospice patients and their loved ones, children with complex diagnoses, acquired brain injury patients, and those escaping domestic violence.
In her career, Bobbi wishes to advocate for her clients and create a strong awareness of music therapy wherever she is practicing, all while making it accessible to everyone.
Outside of work, you can find Bobbi hiking, kayaking, backpacking, practicing yoga, or crocheting.
Yogi
Therapy Dog in Training
Originally from an Alberta farm, Yogi was adopted by Bobbi to live with her in Sylvan Lake and then Edmonton. Currently, he is hard at work learning basic and advance obedience and exploring the world. One day, he hopes to become a registered therapy dog and join Bobbi at work.
As a Bernese Mountain Dog, Yogi loves to meet new people, be the centre of attention, and play in the snow. Sometimes, his intelligence, curiosity, and big personality get the best of him, making everyone around him laugh. Yogi is a very sensitive guy and will be at your side in an instant to comfort you when you're sad.
Outside of training, you can find Yogi chewing sticks and bones, napping, out walking, or cuddling on the couch with his family.
